REFLECTION

Construction as Alchemy is all about translating ideas to built form through an exploration of structures, materials and details in a construction process. This subject requires the completion of a wall, deck, and seat structure design in order to develop key skills in designing and documenting a mass structure and a framed structure. Throughout the semester, the Cox Architecture’s Oval Pavilion Construction Drawings has helped me to better understand both architecture and construction drawings so that I was able to apply the knowledge to my own design drawings. It also helped me to understand what different drawing symbols or hatches represent so that I could comprehend crossreference drawings easily and quickly. Therefore, the Oval Pavilion is an excellent learning tool for this subject and for future studies in this field. The e-Learning modules and the lectures have also proven to be highly useful in improving my understanding of the construction process as a whole, including the construction materials and their properties
